Harriet Ajalo, a 35-year-old widow, has been raising her seven children since her husband’s death.  They live on a piece of land acquired by her late husband. Harriet faces numerous challenges, made worse by living conditions of her small house with a papyrus roof.  

After her husband’s death, her in-laws abandoned her and took the two cows they owned, which could have provided much-needed support. To make ends meet, Harriet and her children work in the gardens of others.  Through last year’s Gifts That Matter campaign, Harriet and her family now have a safe and secure home. This stability allows her to care for her family without the ongoing financial burden of frequent roof repairs. Supporting Harriet has not only improved her quality of life but also ensured the safety and well-being of her entire family.
